The Gaslight Circus
Come one! Come all! Welcome to the announcement of the creation of GASLIGHT CIRCUS STUDIOS!

What is Gaslight Circus Studios, I hear you ask? Well that's the question, isn't it? That's why you're here! And I, your humbled ringmaster, your Master of Ceremonies, am here to answer such questions.

The idea of The Gaslight Circus was founded on Halloween 2008 by Philadelphia Dark Artist Jason Hyde, in other words...Me. After a year of tossing it around, trying to figure out exactly what the idea meant, a bit of revelation hit me as I figured out exactly what I wanted to do. I want to use art to tell stories, to entertain, to make you think. I wanted to create the mutant child of a ménage à trois twixt Burlesque Performance, Cirque du Soleil, and a circus Freak Show. Sounds confusing, doesn't it? It is. What I want to do is provide you with an explosion of creative thought through various forms of mixed media.

Performance art, magazines, visual art projects and galleries, music, movies, graphic novels, physical sculpture, a veritable sideshow of art and sensory experience across genres and mediums. I wanted to make something that would last. Something that would cross genres of art and culture. And that's exactly what I'll do.

Gaslight Circus Studios is to be a mixed media collaborative art group. We're starting small, but gaining members quickly. Want more info? Read on.

Who are we looking for? Artists. Models. Dancers. Make-Up Artists. Live Performers. Actors. Writers. Photographers. Musicians Costume and Wardrobe Designers. If you have a talent or a love for creation in some form, I want to hear from you if you want to be involved. There's going to be plenty of work and opportunity to showcase your abilities and your products.

What's involved? Be available. Be willing to contribute to the various group projects as you can. Be willing to actively promote yourself and your fellow GCS members in their various ventures. Be willing to be a part of a community that will act and run as a family. Everyone contributes, and everyone gains by it. By actively helping GCS and it's members, you will receive the same in return. Cross promote. Stay in contact. There are no contracts and nothing holding you to us. If you want to be a part of this, be a part of this. If you decide to leave, we will wish you well when you do.

For more information, please contact me directly.

I am tired.

My schedule has been insane between my job, my work, and my WORK. Good and vague? You don't say! Ever since I started at the hopsital I'm pretty much in a constant state of satisfied exhaustion. I'm still debating back and forth whether or not that's a good thing. Between being in medicine and my work here, I think I may be pushing the Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde metaphor just a bit too far. Then again, maybe not.

Moving on. Working on Modern Midnight as much as time permits. For all intents and purposes the site is quite serviceable, but I'd like to add a bit more functionality and such. Hard to exactly explain but I'm getting there with it. I need to work on the gallery layout a bit more and such. In general, it's working out.

Looking to shoot a LOT more in 2009 than I did in 2008. Despite 2008 being a light year on shooting, I edited several really good pieces. And I was printed in Culture De Tragedie. I want to do MORE and get FARTHER this year.

Anyway, more work to do. I will be trying to update my journal more often from this point forward.

A Million Roads to Travel

Mon Oct 20, 2008, 11:31 AM
Alright, so...life. Yeah. Life's been interesting. Life's been busy. Life's been....well, Life, mostly. In the process of Life, I've recently come back to what I'm seemingly best at: The art. I'm in school, yeah, and life kinda revolves around that for at least another month or two, but after that, during my residency and such I'll definitely be hardcore back on the trail to what I want most out of life. Medical Professions are all good and fine, but it's more a fallback plan than a life I want to actively pursue.

So...what have I been up to? What's causing all this? Well, I'm glad you asked!

First on the Agenda, I want to announce my new site...it's not done yet, but I'm getting there.
Perfect-Drug.org is now my personal blog( which you're actually reading right now, because it doubles back to my LiveJournal as well, and is to be crossposted to my DeviantArt, FaceBook and MySpace. Integration is a wonderful thing. ) Since it's now my blog/writing website, that leaves a hole where my art portfolio used to be. Well, I had to move it because of my host at the time decided to change their policies and it left me "homeless." I couldn't just ditch the service because other stuff I am involved in is hosted on there, so...I now have [link]

Modern Midnight, the art of Jason Hyde. Oh didn't I mention that too? I incorporated my first name back into all this again. I'm sure that matters somewhere. ;) Anyway, Modern Midnight is just what it says....Today's Darkness, brought to you by your host with the most. Photo Art and Digital Design. It's my new home and GOSH is it pretty...Please, come take a look.

Next on the agenda! Getting the word out and getting shit done. First of all, I'll be offering some merchandising stuff(should anyone care....I'm mostly doing it because I want a hat and patches with Skully on it). Secondly, Prints are gonna be pushed. Anyone who wants to do even a small amount of advertising for me(Like, a MySpace Bulletin, a LiveJournal Post, etc.) please let me know. I'd be eternally grateful and would find a way to pay you back for the help.

I also want to join and post to some more LJ and DeviantArt art communities so if anyone has any reccomendations, please let me know. Same for MySpace if such a thing exists there. On a kinda related note, I now have a Flickr account, so if you're on there, I'm user jasonxhyde. As you also may have noticed, I'm on twitter as well and I try and update at least a few times during the day. You can find that link here: [link]

So that's the start of all this, and there truly is more to come...as I've been mapping out several different art projects of late with some big expectations, high aspirations, etc. Some of them are minor and pretty well planned, like a themed shoot I have planned called "Dead Betty Paige" which is the model Key in classic Betty Paige shots with a twist. Another is far more involved but has been ongoing and reinvented a few times, the Tarot Deck I want to do. A third is based on my love of the world of Silent Hill, which I've been doing shoots for on and off for a year or two.

And then there are two...shall we say "bigger" projects.

First one I can't talk too much about because it's not mapped yet. I will however give you the premise: I want to do a comic book...perhaps a short graphic novel. However, there won't be much drawing. It'll entirely be done in my style of Photo Editing and manipulation. Story isn't set yet, so I can't start casting or anything like that but it should be pretty interesting. I have high hopes.

The second project is much more personal and it's not for profit(at least, not initially...then again none of my work is done specifically for that) but it has great potential for something much bigger and a possibility of publishing. It's a project based around Neil Gaiman's comic book series The Sandman, and is a series of portraits of both the Endless and abstract aspects of their existence accompanied by some prose. It's....difficult to explain really. You'll probably have to wait til I get some work done on it to understand better.

Anyway, thats what I've been up to. Time to get moving, though. I'll be around later.

Also! New contact information

Gothic Horror

Fri Jul 13, 2007, 7:21 AM
So I started writing again.

It's a gothic horror piece placed in my version of the Lovecraft world. Right now it's not titled, though...so...I had a thought that I would post the book here Each chapter at a time.

I put a poll up. Care to give me some feedback?
